Michelle Poler is a professional speaker, researcher and influencer who is known for the social movement ‘Hello Fears’ and for the project ‘100 Days Without Fear’. She has spoken at many high-profile events, such as TEDx, Google, Facebook, Procter & Gamble, Netflix, the World Domination summit, to name a few. Michelle’s humorous and engaging speaking style captivates audiences around the world.
Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, to Holocaust survivors, Michelle grew up accustomed to living with fear. However, when she moved to New York to pursue a Masters degree in Branding from the School of Visual Arts, she quickly realised that NYC was not for the faint-hearted and knew she needed to take positive action to overcome her fears.
Michelle decided to undertake a project whereby she faced one fear per day for one hundred days, which she filmed and posted on YouTube. Her fears included many different challenges, such as holding a tarantula, skydiving and even posing nude for an art class! At around day forty, the project was discovered by the media and she became an instant, viral celebrity. Many celebrities, such as Ashton Kutcher, Zoe Deschanel, Sofia Vergara and Lil Wayne, shared her story and, in a matter of days, Michelle had 4.5 million views on her YouTube channel! By exposing her vulnerability to the world, Michelle created an emotional connection with her viewers that inspired thousands of people to change their own lives.
Michelle’s one hundredth challenge took her to the stage at TEDx, where she received her first, standing ovation, and resulted in her project becoming a global movement. As a result of this, she realised that inspiring others to face their fears was her new calling, so she quit her job as an Art Director to become a full-time entrepreneur. Michelle now tours the world, speaking at companies, universities and organisations to teach audiences how to step outside of their comfort zones to unlock their potential.
